Asus Router Remote Log Server Issues

Posted on  by

Follow the steps below for setting the System Time on an ASUS-RT router to synchronize with a public time server using the NTP client. Log on to the ASUS RT router’s control panel by entering the router’s default address 192.168.1.1 to the address bar of your preferred browser.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try.
I've to an Asus RT-AC66R that offers the ability to configure an OpenVPN server on it. I enabled it with all of the default settings, with the exception of changing UDP over to TCP.
When I try to connect, I'm currently trying to connect from a Mac using Tunnelblick, it fails to connect with the following errors:
  1. Dual-Band WiFi Router (up to 1.75Gbps) with MU-MIMO. AC1600 AC1600 WiFi Router. Dual-Band WiFi Router (up to 1.6Gbps) with MU-MIMO. AC1600 AC1600 WiFi Router. Dual-Band WiFi Router (up to 1.6Gbps) AC1200 AC1200 WiFi Router. Dual-Band WiFi Router (up to 1.2Gbps) with 1000Mbps Ethernet. AC1200 AC1200 WiFi Router. WiFi Router (R6120) AC1000 AC1000.
  2. My problem is when I try and remote access the server, it will ask me for a user and a password, but then shows me my Asus AC66U router access page. This has only happened recently, and I was able to access the server from work or anyplace with internet access before.

Code: Select all

So any thoughts? I've tried searching for the error 'dh key too small' and got nothing.
Thanks.

If you have not changed the login credentials yet, the default login is: admin (username); admin (password)

Note: If you have pre-configured these credentials when setting up your router, you will have to enter them to access the router control panel.

When you access the router control panel, navigate to the bottom-left to find the “VPN” section and click on it.

In the next window, click on “VPN Client” section and then click on “Add profile“.

In order to finalize the AsusWRT router VPN setup, you’ll need to download your desired server configuration files. Log in to your ProtonVPN account and click the Downloads category. You can download the desired configuration files by selecting the Router option.

Now, in the following window on your Asus router, select OpenVPN and enter the following:

After you’ve filled everything, click on “Choose File“.

You will have to navigate to the location where you have downloaded the VPN configuration files and select one of them.
